FAVORITE SITES

  • : The Cave of the Dragonflies has been around for 20+ years and, as a result, has tons of interesting content, including: discussing the mechanics of the games, the history of the Pokemon fandom and resulting discourse, website tips, etc.
  • GPX Plus: I remember getting really into this as a kid, but I haven't checked it out again for several years, oops! It's a site where you collect and raise Pokemon eggs, battle, or just hang out in the forums.
  • : I've really enjoyed looking through Rydia's Nurse Joy shrine! She's so passionate and has detailed info about all the different Joy's appearances in the anime upto Hoenn, a list of curated fanart & fics, headcannons, and so much more! Her theories page is especially interesting.
  • Autumn's Grace: This site has linked and summaries of old Pokemon fansites and the fan culture back in the day. There are so many cute little sites linked here, like Mijumaru's Water Oath or Valley of Nightmares.
  • Speculative Evolution (it's since moved here, where it's still fairly active): This forum isn't necessarily about Pokemon, but it's centered around discussion about how else the natural world might've ended up, how plausible certain evolutionary adaptations are, etc. While I never actually participated as a kid, I lurked there fairly often. Honestly, besides, y'know, enjoying the games and nostalgia, a big part of my interest in Pokemon comes from an interest in ecology and biology, so this scratched the same itch for me.
